Just Mustard

Hoxton Hall, N1 6SH , [Venue Details]

Today, Dundalk five-piece Just Mustard have returned with their first new music in three years, the maximalist “POLLYANNA”, a song that pushes the band’s restless innovation to the fore, signalling a moment of evolution for Just Mustard.

@7.00pm

The band have also announced a select run of shows in intimate venues, which provide a rare opportunity to experience the band’s enveloping sound in close quarters.

“POLLYANNA” feels like a moment of clarity for the band. Their sound has become even more enveloping, a thrilling collision of warped guitars, submerged beats and front woman Katie Ball’s dreamlike vocals pushed higher in the mix than ever before. The sense of disorientation is still there, but there is also a new embrace of directness and melody. The track was part-inspired by a sense of “toxic happiness”, with the titular Pollyanna meaning an excessively positive or optimistic person. The track comes paired with a mesmerising CCTV styled video directed by Katie Ball.
